The full text of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS)

By agreement with the international Maritime Organization we are able to provide this document only to bona fide students.  A password is required. To obtain your password, contact your training institution. The download should take around a minute with a 56K modem.

Depending on how your web browser is set up, the downloaded document will automatically open in your word processor program, or a dialogue box will appear asking if you want to save the file or open it. In either case save the file "CollRegs.doc" to a location of your choice.

2009-2012 Racing Rules Time to the Mark Calculator

The 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing define a Zone of three hull lengths radius around a mark: it replaces the two-length zone defined in the old rules.

You can use this calculator to check your sailing time to the mark from the zone: calculates time based on hull length and boat speed, so it is really useful to assess the impact of the new Zone on the way you sail.  Need a different size zone for your races? No problem: you can set the size of the Zone to 2 or 4 hull lengths radius
