The 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing define a Zone of three hull lengths radius around a mark: it replaces the two-length zone defined in the old rules.
You can use this calculator to check your sailing time to the mark from the zone: calculates time based on hull length and boat speed, so it is really useful to assess the impact of the new Zone on the way you sail. Need a different size zone for your races? No problem: you can set the size of the Zone to 2 or 4 hull lengths radius
